DNS Configuration

Below is the DNS record configuration details that will be required for your domain to run on NetVault’s Hosted Exchange Platform:
The domain used in the example configuration below is - example.com.au

DNS Record 1:
      Type - MX
      Name - Blank or @
      Priority - 10
      Mail Server - smtp.exvault.com.au
      TTL - 1 hour

DNS Record 2:
      Type - CNAME
      Name - autodiscover
      Target - portal.exvault.com.au
      TTL - 1 hour

DNS Record 3:
      Type - CNAME
      Name - owa
      Target - portal.exvault.com.au
      TTL - 1 hour

DNS Record 4:
      Type - TXT
      Name - Blank or @
      Content - "v=spf1 ip4:103.4.63.65 -all"
      TTL - 1 hour

Once you have setup the DNS records correctly you should get the following results when using nslookup command or equvilent:

Resulting MX record nslookup:
  1. > example.com.au
  2. Server: dns.google
  3. Address: 8.8.8.8
  4. Non-authoritative answer:
  5. example.com.au        MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = smtp.exvault.com.au
Resulting CNAME record nslookup:
  1. > autodiscover.example.com.au
  2. Server: dns.google
  3. Address: 8.8.8.8
  4. Non-authoritative answer:
  5. autodiscover.example.com.au   canonical name = portal.exvault.com.au
  6. > owa.example.com.au
  7. Server: dns.google
  8. Address: 8.8.8.8
  9. Non-authoritative answer:
  10. owa.example.com.au   canonical name = portal.exvault.com.au
Resulting TXT record nslookup:
  1. > example.com.au
  2. Server: dns.google
  3. Address: 8.8.8.8
  4. Non-authoritative answer:
  5. example.com.au        text =

            "v=spf1 ip4:103.4.63.65 -all"
